The FRP Durability Centre is a joint effort between Swerea SICOMP and Swerea KIMAB. The aim of the centre is to offer professional services on durability and service reliability of polymer composites, including fibre reinforced plastics (FRP), and also their lined structures used in hostile environments. The formation of the centre has been achieved during Spring 2008 and it was commenced in May 2008.
Swerea SICOMP and Swerea KIMAB both have a strong position as regards FRP and composite structures. Whereas Swerea SICOMP mainly deals with mechanical and failure analysis of composite structures used as high-performance structural materials, is Swerea KIMAB’s focus on corrosion properties, degradation and ageing of composite structures mainly used in process equipment.
