Aviation and aerospace

The European aviation industry is aiming to minimize the environmental impact of air transport by reducing emissions and noise by at least 50 percent before 2020. This will necessitate weight reductions on both aircraft structures and aircraft engines. Swerea SICOMP is helping to reach this target by developing technology that will enable increased use of lightweight structures in carbon fibre composites for aircraft and aircraft engines. Our focus is mainly on sizing, developing and simulating manufacturing processes and developing new, multifunctional materials with nanotechnology.
