Certified reference materials (CRM) are frequently used in the steel, metal and engineering industries for both the calibration of instruments and the quality control of final products. There is a great need for CRMs, and the demand for new CRMs is constantly increasing. Swerea KIMAB sells reference materials in ECRM and JK series for steel and iron.

Three new reference materials are currently being certified and are expected to be ready for sale during 2013:
- ECRM 196-2 (Silicon Steel)
- ECRM 883-1 (Blast Furnace Slag)
- ECRM 689-1 (Iron ore)
