Production Technology
Swerea IVF's research and development within the field of production technology takes place in collaboration with academia and industry, in Sweden as well as internationally. The results generated are adapted for use in the manufacturing industry, either to address very specific needs, or to introduce entirely new ways of thinking and working in an overall perspective.
Our model of intervention is based on the concept of "help to self-help", that is, we coach the management, the appointed change agents and the staff. Our goal is that our research and way of implementing it should result in sustainable change in the companies that we work with, and initiate a change process that will continue to be developed by the company's own effort.
In our work, we focus both on the manufacturing process and the supply chain that often is an integral part of the operation. Since a good work environment is a production factor, we always strive to integrate production development with improved working conditions. (See "Work Environment"). Our way of working is inspired by the principles of Lean Production.
Swerea IVF is leading the national initiative Produktionslyftet ("Production Boost") where we collaborate with universities, industrial development centres and other organisations to support medium-sized manufacturing enterprises going through an 18-month Lean transformation. To date, more than 60 companies have participated in this initiative.
