Lean Product Development
Lean Product Development (LPD) is a product development process methodology based on replacing specifications of requirement with visions, teaching yourself the solution space through actively constructing knowledge and controlling and planning the work visually, applying technological management in every aspect. You do not make any decisions until they have been verified as technically feasible.
Swerea IVF has worked on understanding and implementing LPD since the mid 1990s. Work is conducted in close collaboration with industry.
Introducing LPD means radical re-thinking. Most other established development processes are based on a "stage-gate" philosophy, with gates where decisions on how to continue are made based on a variety of documents. LPD, on the other hand, defines "integration events", which are points in time where you intend to make technical decisions, and when all necessary knowledge must have been gained.
LPD is applied by working according to a number of principles and uses an arsenal of development methods, all of which are based on increasing transparency and visibility.

Following our courses. Together with Chalmers, we offer a 7.5 credit course for managers and product developers from industry. We also provide company specific training, which can be established according to requirements.
