Sheet metal forming
Swerea IVF works with sheet metal forming processes, materials and pressing tools. The emphasis is on deep drawing, stamping and roll forming processes, often in combination with advanced materials. We specialise in:
• new forming processes and advanced sheet metal materials
• tools and dies – production chain and function
• FE-simulation of the forming process
• geometry measurement with optical 3D scanning.
We help companies changing to new processes and materials. If you need FE-simulation of sheet metal forming processes, formability analyses, material properties analysis, evaluation of process problems, or failure analysis we can perform that for you.
Creating industry related research projects in cooperation with companies is one of our expert skills. The Sheet Metal Network, Plåtforum, with 70 companies from all the Nordic countries is an important contact area for new projects.
Swerea IVF conducts applied research on forging. Using simulation, we can analyse the filling, temperature, ductility, hardness and residual stresses after forging. Among other things we can check that the core material does not come too close to critical zones such as functional surfaces, hardening zones and oil holes.
