Testing and Analysis

Swerea IVF carries out testing and analysis within a number of disciplines. Most of the analyses are done according to international and national standards, but we also offer tests according to several specifically developed, proprietary methods.

Within the material fields of textiles, polymers and ceramics, we offer mechanical, chemical, physical, rheological and thermal testin and analysis. Our textiles testing department is accredited according to ISO IEC 17025, and can offer about 400 test methods. We also offer analyses of microstructure, chemical composition and phase composition with microscopes such as SEM and EPMA. With the help of fractographic analyses of fracture surfaces we can determine crack origins and causes of material failures. For ceramic materials, we also offer analysis of density, porosity and pore size distribution.

 Within the field of powders and powder dispersion we offer measurements of particle size distribution, density (ceramic and metallic materials), viscosity and visco-elastic properties. We can also measure rheological properties of powders and powder granulates.

Within the field of electronics Swerea IVF carries out material analysis and failure analysis with intrument such as Microfocus X-ray Systems, Scanning Acoustic Microscopes (SAM), Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) and Optical Microscopes. We perform environmental testing (climate and temperature cycling), stress testing for determining failure modes (HALT/HASS) and process validation. We are also able to support you during the product development phase in order to obtain quality assurance of the entire supply chain.

Our solid knowledge of geometrical measurements, analysis and tolerance management gives us the best qualifications to assist our customers in obtaining correct and relevant product and process information. Swerea IVF has access to Coordinate Measuring Machines, Optical 3D-Scanners as well as various tools for advanced geometrical analysis and simulation.
