CORREX to join Institut de la Corrosion and the Swerea Group

The French corrosion laboratory CORREX has been acquired by the Institut de la Corrosion as of July 1st 2009. CORREX is a well renowned corrosion laboratory in France with special expertise in corrosion and corrosion fatigue. Institut de la Corrosion is a leading corrosion research institute in Brest, France, wholly owned subsidiary of Swerea KIMAB, a major European research institute in the field of metallic materials, corrosion and corrosion protection.

New atlas: A General Guide for Failure Analysis of Brass

This handbook is foremost directed to people investigating failures of brass components. Thus it is dedicated to failures and potential problems related to the application of brass. Authors: Dan Jacobsson, Carl-Åke Däcker, Rolf Sundberg and Olivier Rod

The emphasis is on corrosion mechanisms generally occurring on brass. The guideline in producing the document has been:

  • To give an overview of current knowledge of corrosion
    mechanisms of brass
  • To work out an accessible guide for failure analysis of brass
