International Activities
Europe is our home market, although we work with companies and research institutes throughout the world. Our member companies are drawn from about a dozen countries. One of the companies - Swerea KIMAB - for example, carries out research and commissioned projects in the field of corrosion via our wholly-owned Institut de la Corrosion subsidiary in France. Research programmes, particularly within European cooperation, are central to our acquisition and consolidation of knowledge. We are involved in two main European research programmes: the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes, and the Research Fund Coal and Steel (RFCS).
In total, Swerea has 64 current projects with an order value of over SEK 135 million. We are the project coordinator of eleven of them. Financing for them is shared by the EU, industry and public sources of research funding.
